Dear Customer,
A new local Read type code (#65G2.00 Immunisation course to achieve immunity against monkeypox virus) has recently been added to the Read dictionary within Vision 3. When using this code, please be aware that it will need to be added as a Medical History entry rather than an immunisation as it reflects the intent of giving the vaccination not that vaccination has been given. This can be done via the menu (Add -> Medical History), or the F11 keyboard shortcut (Also see Adding_a_Medical_History_Entry).
The code has been added to the 65* hierarchy for consistency with other “Immunisation course…” terms. It was anticipated that there would be a specific MPOX vaccine made available in the UK, at which point a specific immunisation code would be need created, however this hasn’t transpired to date.
Imnavex is a smallpox vaccine (licensed in 2013); this can be used to provide immunity against MPOX (and other vaccinia viruses). When recording that a patient has been vaccinated against MPOX, it is still correct to code it as a smallpox vaccine.
